I work out of the Upstate Warrior Solution Rupert Huse Veteran Center in Greenville a couple times a week. It’s a fantastic facility, and there’s always some sort of event taking place. I’m fortunate to have connected with countless veterans, first responders, and families over the last year.
Yesterday, I met a kind woman who was trying to help her husband reach an honorable goal: get as many people as possible praying for our country. She gave me a printed copy of a prayer that he wrote last year and asked me if I would share it, so I’m going to do just that.
In these divisive times, with a presidential election coming up, we should all take time to reflect and pray for the country we call home.
Dear Lord, please reward the courage of our soldiers with the blessing to pass freedom to their children when they are older.
Give peace to those who believe that our country is under threat, by giving them the knowledge that you know best.
Please fill our hearts full of giving, and may we be available to those in need of receiving.
For our nation at this time of world turmoil needs your guidance to maintain freedom on this soil.
Give to those who want to serve the people the wisdom and courage it takes to protect our church steeples.
So God, give us the strength and courage to have faith in our nation’s journey, and give us the honor to be the beacon in this world for Liberty.
Amen
My personal prayer is that we can all treat each other with kindness and respect, regardless of political preferences.
Finally, if you’d like to help support veterans, first responders, and their families, please reach out to me about donating to or sponsoring Strengthtoberfest.
